Yoga
The primary goal of yoga practice is not to master the most difficult poses, although we strive for perfect alignment. The true purpose of yoga is to access the connectedness, the oneness within, the place where we feel more love and union than separation.
We use the breath as the bridge from the mind to the body, and the postures are the vehicles that take us from the body to the heart space -- that's if we do them with a sense of inner directedness. We practice yoga to be able to tap internal wealth rather than to achieve external feats.
Sherrill teaches a form of yoga called integral yoga.
Asanas, the yoga postures, are integrated fully with
the breath and notion of being fully present while practicing.
Working with the breath (pranayama) and guided relaxation
are part of every class.
Sherrill has been teaching for over 9 years. She is a certified yoga teacher
(CYT) with the International Yoga College. Please visit www.internationalyogacollege.org for more information on integral yoga.
Individual or small group yoga classes are available by appointment.
Yoga & Shiatsu
The asanas
naturally stimulate the body's meridians (energetic pathways which circulate qi) and can lead to healing both physically and emotionally.
A yoga practice tailored to the individual can
enhance their shiatsu treatment as well as extend the
benefits between sessions.
Private yoga sessions are available to shiatsu clients
which are specifically tailored to concerns being addressed
with the shiatsu treatment. Fees for this combined service
are rated as a reduced rate. Call for more information.
Yoga for Seniors
Gentle yoga postures and the associated purposeful breathing techniques
are emphasized to build both strength and flexibility.
This can lead to improved balance and a sense of well
being both physically and mentally. These movements
and techniques can be accomplished either standing or
in a chair. A period of guided relaxation is always
included.
Private and small group sessions are available. Please call for more information.
